Snowmobiling
Saratoga
Saratoga has many snowmobiling trails that will take you throughout Saratoga County. Local snowmobiles manage the county’s trails and maintain them for your use. In the attached link, there is a list of clubs that give trail closures and updates before you go. One popular trail starts at Browns Beach and will take you to Stillwater. But, if you head South to Round Lake and then West, you will end up in Ballston, Charlton, and West Charlton. Make sure you stop along the way for a bite to eat and relax at one of the few restaurants along the trail. Check out the link above for more trails and rest stops!
Rome
The West Rome Riders is a volunteer group that maintains 41 miles of trails within the Rome area. They have five trails that bring you through Oneida County and provide updates on trail closures and notices. Tri-Valley Trail Riders, INC is a non-profit group that helps maintain other trails within the county. They are constantly posting updates on their Facebook page, so make sure you watch their social media pages for the most recent updates. The Trailbsuters Snowmobile Club offers snowmobile safety education classes and motivates a healthy respect for nature. They manage 38 miles of class-A trails in the county. With so many clubs around, whether you’re seasoned at the sport or just beginning doesn’t matter. There is something for you!

The Saratoga Ice Rink has open skate hours. If you are a big skater, I recommend getting a rec card for discounted prices on open skates and rentals. The rink is NHL—and Olympic-sized, so you and the whole family can enjoy it. So bundle up, grab your hot chocolate, and hit the ice!
Rome
The JK Kennedy Civic Arena has been around since 1964 and is the most popular venue in the community. It is also home to the Rome Free Academy Varsity Hockey Team, which plays its home games in the arena. Check out their schedule for open skating. After you take a few laps, check out the warming room and concession area for a quick break!
